The Right to Health
Everyone has the right to the best possible physical and mental health. This includes the right to access quality healthcare, including sexual and reproductive health services. This right links to other rights to clean water, safe food, and gender equality, which are key factors in being able to obtain health and well-being.
Everyone must have the right to access sexual and reproductive health information and services, including family planning. Everyone must be able to live free from gender-based violence, particularly women and girls. Pregnant women must have access to services for safe childbirth.
Everyone has the right to make their own decisions about their sexual and reproductive life, and to have their privacy to do so respected. Hence, accessible and high-quality sexual and reproductive health services and information should respect the decisions of individuals, and their confidentiality.
