Title
The right to decide whether and when to have children
Sexuality Description
Everyone has the right to plan their family, including deciding on the number, timing and spacing of their children, if they choose to have children. This covers the right to choose and access contraception . Access to contraception supports the fundamental human right to decide freely and responsibly the number and spacing of children. It also provides significant health benefits by preventing unintended pregnancies and reducing related health risks. Guaranteeing access to available, acceptable, and good quality contraceptive information and services is also critical for achieving the Sustainable Development Goal 5: Gender Equality.
