‘Personal values’ are the core beliefs, principles, and ideals that guide our actions, decisions, and priorities. They serve as a moral compass, influencing everything from career choices to relationships and daily interactions. Our personal values highlight what is important to us in life and influence our beliefs about the world. Every person has their own combination of values. Living true to our values helps us make decisions we are happy with. \nSome of our values will change throughout life, and some will stay the same and that’s okay.\n\nOur personal values are often shaped by our family, culture, traditions and communities.

\n\nFiji is home to people from different cultural backgrounds, and their culture, customs, traditions, and language are an important part of Fiji’s society. Respecting this diversity includes recognizing the rights of indigenous peoples to maintain and strengthen their culture, customs, traditions, and languages as recognized in Fijian law. People may hold different views because of their different backgrounds, and it is important to respect these differences.
\n\nWhile we have personal values, there are also values that are expressed as human rights and belong to everyone. Human rights are the rights we have simply because we are human beings. These rights are outlined in the Constitution of The Republic of Fiji and international agreements ratified by Fiji.
