Premenstrual Disorders

Some women usually notice some physical and mental changes a few days before menstruation begins. Some may feel no change and some may experience a few of these changes.

Physical changes may include:

  • decreased or increased appetite,
  • fatigue, enlargement and tenderness of the breasts,
  • constipation,
  • swelling,
  • headaches,
  • dizziness.

Mental changes may include:

  • irritability and mood swings,
  • depression,
  • drowsiness,
  • fatigue.

The severity of these symptoms varies from person to person and usually disappears spontaneously. If these symptoms are severe or interfere with your daily activities, it is best to consult a health care worker.
