Sex party invites on Whatsapp

Girl says she never sent them!

Have you ever received a digital flyer on WhatsApp from someone you didn’t know? It could be inviting you to a party - or even a sex party! But did you know sharing these flyers can be a form of cyber bullying?

According to H Metro, a Bulawayo girl has been the victim of this form of bullying! The girl, Yolanda, says a flyer has been circulated using her number, advertising that she is hosting a sex party for youths.

Her number went viral after an invitation for a twenty first birthday party dubbed “Body to Body” was passed around on social media. The flyers also listed explicitly the sexual activities that would take place at the party.

However, Yolanda has denied ever sending out the invitation, saying that she is 23 years old. She has since reported the matter to Bulawayo Central Police. She says she has received many phone calls since the flyer started circulating.

“I don’t even know who made that flyer that has in turn created a lot of problems for me. I have been receiving several phone calls ever since the flyer started circulating and I have been in trouble trying to explain that I had nothing to do with that,” says Yolanda.

Cyberbullying is when someone uses digital means to bully, tease or harass you. Protect yourself by being careful who you share your number with or who you add on social networks such as Facebook or Twitter.

If someone is cyber bullying you, call Childline (116) or go to your nearest police station.
